Dry toilets work with a little bit of wind and/or a little bit of sun. A draught is created that absorbs air through the wc, thus conveying all odours out through the vent; at the same time the draught induces a natural dehydration process that reduces the volume of the refuse down to a 5% of the original size. No chemicals, no water, no sewerage. Once a year, the dry and odourless production of natural compost may be removed.
We proposed lo-tech construction, with six wooden posts, galvanised steel bands and riveted wooden slats, on an earth-crete base. The base lost formwork also holds the wooden posts.
The hi-tech reference of the Parisian capsule is digitally printed onto some units.
